Crossroads Community Hospital offers general and specialized surgical procedures. Many of these procedures are available on a same-day, outpatient basis.
As your surgery date comes closer, it’s a good idea to plan ahead. Outpatient surgeries allow you to recover in the comfort of your home but it’s helpful to think ahead and make adjustments before your surgery day.
Pre-admission testing is conducted prior to each surgical procedure. Someone from our pre-admission team will contact you and explain your surgery and what pre-admission testing will be required. This may include lab work, an EKG, chest X-Ray, physical assessment and patient history. These studies are conducted to recognize and correct any abnormalities prior to surgery.
Your physician will most likely tell you not to eat or drink anything within eight hours of your procedure. You should ask about any medications you are taking. If you are sick, please tell your physician beforehand as they may want to reschedule your surgery until you feel healthy. We also ask that you refrain from wearing make-up or nail polish and put on comfortable, loose fitting clothes.
After surgery, let us know if you feel any pain or discomfort. The length of your hospital stay will depend on your ability to drink fluids, walk and urinate as well as the level of pain you are in. Before you leave, your nurse will give you a list of emergency numbers and post-surgery instructions.
