The Medical/Surgical Unit at Crossroads Community Hospital is a 40 bed unit spanning two floors. We care for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
The unit also provides postoperative care to patients recovering from gynecological, orthopedic and general surgery. Cardiac and continuous oxygen monitoring is utilized on the unit as deemed necessary by a physician. Inpatient dialysis, outpatient infusions and outpatient wound care is also managed on the Med/Surg Unit.
Each patient room is private and spacious, designed to promote a family/guest friendly atmosphere. We want our patients and families to feel comfortable while they are recovering from an illness or surgical procedures.
One of our main goals is to promote and practice patient safety. We have specialized smart beds that are programmed and customized to meet each patient’s individualized need for safety. Hourly rounding is also completed to meet your needs in a timely manner. Nursing staff will check on you each hour to assist in the five P's – pain, potty, position, pump and possessions. Rounding is intended to meet your expectations before you would have to ask for assistance.
We encourage involvement of both our patients and their families in their care. An example of this is completing bedside report at every shift change. Bedside reporting findings are also communicated on a white board located in each patient room so the patient and their families are constantly kept up-to-date on important information.
An interdisciplinary approach is utilized in caring for every patient on the unit. The interdisciplinary team consists of, but is not limited to, physicians, nursing, case management, pharmacy, therapy, imaging, cardiopulmonary and dietary services. Further disciplines may be consulted as needed.
Crossroads Community Hospital does not limit visiting hours. Visiting hours are based upon patient condition and are at the discretion of the doctors and nurses taking care of your loved one. Please check with the nursing staff taking care of your loved one before visiting.
