Has Fear Kept You From Treatment?
Crossroads Community Hospital is focused on keeping you safe and healthy
COVID-19 has affected nearly all parts of our lives from employment, healthcare, and even planning for school this fall. For some, COVID-19 has dramatically changed their lives. Just in Jefferson County – there have been at least 190 cases. With that in mind, that is around a half of one percent of the population. The fear of the virus is affecting many more, in many different ways, including putting off their healthcare visits and treatments.
According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, about half of the public says they have skipped or postponed medical care because of the Coronavirus outbreak. Crossroads Community Hospital also saw a drop in patients in the emergency room and at many of its clinics in the spring.
“As a healthcare organization in our community, Crossroads has taken the appropriate steps to keep our patients and our community safe,” noted Amanda Basso, CEO of Crossroads Community Hospital. “We are following the infection prevention and safety protocols as directed by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), requiring face masks at our entrance, taking temperatures upon entry, and screening surgical patients for COVID-19 before surgery. The health and safety of our patients, team members and visitors are our top priority.”
Hospital officials across the country are encouraging patients to seek the treatments they need because putting off healthcare has serious side effects. Strokes and heart attacks are not conditions that can wait. Every minute a person waits can dramatically affect a patient’s outcome. Diabetes, kidney disease, and COPD, among many others, are conditions that if not treated can result in making a patient’s condition much worse in the long run.
“Whether a patient needs a routine wellness visit or if they are in need of emergency care, patients need to know they are safe to come to our hospital and clinics,” states Basso. “We are doing everything possible to keep you safe and healthy.”
