Visitor Policy Update – May 12, 2023

Crossroads Community Hospital is updating our visitation policy to define specific visitation guidelines for the families and loved ones of patients. This allows patients to receive necessary care and rest, and for Crossroads Community Hospital to efficiently provide healing services. Beginning May 12th, in accordance with current CDC and IDPH guidelines, our visitor policy will be as follows: 


Inpatient Visitation (ICU and Medical/Surgical Unit):


Visitors for patients that are NOT suspected of COVID-19 or positive for COVID-19:

  • Visitors for patients must NOT suspected of COVID-19 or positive for COVID-19 and must be free from respiratory symptoms or a fever.
  • No more than 2 visitors/support persons are allowed at one time. 
  • Visitors under 18 years of age will not be allowed to visit or wait in the waiting area during designated influenza season November 1 to March 31. 

Visiting Hours:

  • Medical Surgical Unit- visitation hours are from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm daily, with overnight visits allowed as needed.
  • Intensive Care Unit- ICU visitation hours are from 8:00 am – 7:00 pm daily. 


Visitors for COVID-19 Suspected or Positive Patients:

  • Visitors for patients must not NOT suspected of COVID-19 or positive for COVID-19 and must be free from respiratory symptoms or a fever.
  • No more than 2 visitors/support persons are allowed at one time.
  • Visitors must always wear a surgical mask and gown provided by staff while visiting.
  • Visitors under 18 years of age will not be allowed to visit or wait in the waiting area.
  • Visitors should only visit the patient’s room, with limited to no movement to other areas of the facility.
  • If visitors leave the room during visitation hours, they will not be allowed back in until visitation hours resume.
  • If a patient is in the process of being admitted, one support person at a time will be allowed to enter to assist the patient.
  • No outside food or drinks are allowed into the patient’s room.
  • COVID-19 patient visiting hours are from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm, and 5:00 pm – 6:00pm daily, unless approval is gained by Nursing Administration, House Supervisor, and Infection Control for exceptional circumstances.

Emergency Department


Visitors for patients that are NOT suspected of COVID-19 or positive for COVID-19:

  • No more than 2 visitors/support persons are allowed at one time.  
  • Visitors under 18 years of age will not be allowed to visit or wait in the waiting area. 
  • For patients under 18 years of age, no more than 2 parents/guardians are allowed at one time. 
  • No outside food or drinks are allowed into the patient’s room. 


Visitors for SUSPECTED or COVID-19 positive patients:

  • No more than 2 visitors/support persons are allowed at one time.  
  • Visitors must always wear a surgical mask and gown provided by staff while visiting.  
  • Visitors should only visit the patient’s room, with limited to no movement to other areas of the facility.  
  • Visitors are allowed one hour during the emergency department stay. If the patient is being admitted, they are allowed one support person to enter for one hour to assist the patient. 
  • No outside food or drinks are allowed into the patient’s room. 

Surgical Services Department

  • No more than 2 visitors/support persons are allowed at one time. 
  • Visitors under 18 years of age will not be allowed to visit or wait in the waiting area.  
  • For patients under 18 years of age, no more than 2 parents/guardians are allowed at one time.  

Crossroads Community Hospital will continue to adhere to infection control practices and social distancing guidelines when applicable for patient and healthcare professionals’ safety, and to promote wellness in our facility. We understand that these guidelines can feel burdensome and inconvenient.
